V. E. Schwab was born in 1987. She currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee, but frequents Edinburgh.
She has been called “the heir to Diana Wynne Jones.” Her dynamic work has caught the attention of major TV and film studios.
Victoria has a Masters degree in Art History from the University of Edinburgh.
An American fantasy author, she is best known for the following books: firstly, for her 2013 novel Vicious, which was named by Publishers Weekly the novel one of its best books of 2013 for SF/Fantasy/Horror and was awarded by the American Library Association’s Reference and User Services Association the top fantasy book in their 2014 Reading List; secondly, for her NYT bestselling Shades of Magic series; thirdly, for her children’s and young adult fiction published under the name Victoria Schwab.
Her novel, A Darker Shade of Magic (2015), the second of the Shades of Magic series, also received a starred review from Publishers Weekly. A Gathering of Shadows is the third book of the Shades of Magic series (2016).
