Aaron W Dembski-Bowden was born in 1980 in London, “in a really dark, grim patch of London”, as he says, but he moved to the greenest parts of Northern Ireland. This last factoid arises from being in love with a beautiful Irish girl who foolishly agreed to marry him – and that it’s easier to write out in the middle of nowhere with only fields, cats, and hot redheads for company.

He is a lifelong science fiction enthusiast. At the age of 9 he discovered Space Crusade game and loved painting figurines. He began his carrier in the role play and video games industry, before joining the authors published by Black Library.

Aaron writes a lot. He is author of several science fiction series to date, including the Warhammer 40,000 series.

His novel The First Heretic of the Horus Heresy series (2011) was a New-York Times best seller for two weeks in a row.

The Black Legion series is composed of two books to date. The first, The Talon of Horus, was published in 2016, and the second, Black Legion, in 2017. Let’s take a look at the book summary.

Abaddon returns from exile and raises the dreaded Black Legion.

The Sons of Horus may be no more, but rising from their ashes come the Black Legion. Returning after his long self-imposed exile, Abaddon offers the disparate Chaos Space Marine warbands within the Eye of Terror a simple choice – join him or die. As his newborn war host emerges from the Eye of Terror to ravage the galaxy, none can stand in Abaddon’s path, not even the Black Templars Chapter – sworn to stand guard at the storm’s edge –  nor the Emperor’s Champion himself.
