Marie Kondo was born in Japan. She is the author of Spark Joy: An Illustrated Master Class on the Art of Organizing and Tidying Up (2016), a self-help book. As the founder of the KonMari Method, she is the #1 New York Times best-selling author of The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up (also a best seller in Japan, Germany, and the UK) and was named one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2015.

Marie Kondo is an expert and a consultant in organizing. She runs an acclaimed consulting business in Tokyo helping clients transform their cluttered homes into spaces of serenity and inspiration. With a three-month waiting list, her KonMari Method of decluttering and organizing has become an international phenomenon. Her books were translated into more than 40 languages, including Corean, Chinese, Spanish, German and English. The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up alone has sold over seven million copies worldwide.

As a five-year-old girl, she began reading women’s magazines. She was already fascinated not just by tidying up but also by the beauty emanating from well-organized spaces. Since the age of fifteen, more particularly after spending five years as a housemaid in a Shinto sanctuary, she has been analysing how she could tidy up and organize living-rooms.

Marie Kondo has made of decluttering, tidying up and organizing a full art. Her KonMari method consists in gathering all your belongings by category and keeping only the things that spark joy and happiness, and from then on, choosing a place for each thing.

She has been featured on more than thirty major Japanese television and radio programs.   1. Spark Joy is a very useful book to bring change to your living space getting rid of unnecessary things without procrastinating. Each of us accumulates so many useless things! Her view on the subject is interesting. I recommend this book. Maybe like a gift to people who don’t know how to part with certain things.
