Joy Ellis is one of the amazing Joffe Books team of authors.
A native of Kent, she spent most of her working life in London and Surrey. She presently lives in a village in the Lincolnshire Fens with her partner, dedicating her time to writing as often as she can.
Joy was firstly an apprentice florist to Constance Spry Ltd, a prestigious Mayfair shop that throughout the Sixties and Seventies teemed with both royalty and ‘real’ celebrities. “What an eye-opener for a working-class kid from the Garden of England!”, as she says. Her aim at that moment was to have a shop of her own one day, what happened in the early Eighties. But this was not without difficulties due to the crisis. She then took different jobs, among them a job of bookshop manager. She felt very happy as she was surrounded by books all day, managing the orders as she liked. This is, in a way, how she got used to the writing world.
Today, as an author, her partner, a highly decorated retired police officer, is her harshest critic when it comes to police and judicial procedure. She has set her crime thrillers in the misty fens because she sincerely loves the remoteness and airy beauty of the marshlands. In her own words, “this area is steeped in superstitions and lends itself so well to murder!”.
