Kathy Reichs was born in Chicago in 1948. She is a Forensic Anthropologist, Profesor and novelist. Her new thriller, Two Nights, the latest of the Temperance Brennan series, was reliesed in July 2017. Kathy Reichs has two daughters and one son. An author of crime novels, she is one of the eighty-two forensic anthropologists certified by the American Board of Forensic Anthropology. She also sits on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. Her first novel of the Temperance Brennan series, Déjà Dead, catapulted her to fame when it became a New York Times bestseller and won the 1997 Ellis Award for Best First Novel.

Kathy got a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in anthropology from American University in 1971. Then, in 1972, she earned a Master of Arts in physical anthropology from Northwestern University, and finally, in 1975, she completed a Ph.D. in physical anthropology from Northwestern University.

She currently splits her time between the Laboratoire des Sciences Judiciaires et de Médecine Légale for the province of Quebec, with which she is affiliated, and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she is an adjunct professor of anthropology (on indefinite leave as of 2016). In addition, she frequently gives conferences around the world. Previously, she taught at Northern Illinois University, University of Pittsburgh, Concordia University, and McGill University, and consulted for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in North Carolina.

She spends a couple of days every month in Montreal, a town she often choses as background for her novels.

Her Temperance Brennan series of crime novels features a forensic anthropologist of the same name, who is also Bones series’ heroine, for which Kathy Reichs has been a producer. Bones series is in a way based on her novels, the latter being inspired by her life. Kathy is also the author of the Virals series.
